5 Food Start-Ups That Will Make Your Day

Here in Boston, we love to eat. We especially love to eat locally sourced ingredients, healthy nutrients, and delicious flavors- of course.

These five food start-ups will help in your pursuit of the perfect meal- making your taste buds, bank account, and body happy.

Food for All

The premise of Food For All is to “rescue” restaurant meals before they end up in the trash at closing time. All you have to do is download the app, select an unsold meal from a restaurant near you, and pick-up your meal at a designated time before closing. You’ll spend as little as $3 and reduce food waste.

Food For All currently operates in Boston as well as New York City.

Just Add Cooking

Love to cook but hate meal planning and grocery shopping? Just Add Cooking is New England’s only local meal kit service offering fresh, healthy, and pre-measured ingredients sourced in New England. The recipes are overseen by a local dietician and meal kits are delivered right to your door.

ForkOut

An app that functions as Yelp, Messenger, Google Maps, and Uber combined? Talk about more nights out on the town! ForkOut offers restaurant reviews, transportation options, and a way to message friends all in one place so you can coordinate your dinner plans without starving in the process.

ChefDazzer

Planning a party? Dazzle your guests by hiring a chef to create a custom menu for the event! ChefDazzer is an app that allows customers to book chefs in the Boston area. Pricing is generally $50-75 per person and all chefs have been pre-screened by the start-up.

Bon’App

Also known as the “Google of Food,” Bon’App helps users figure out what is in their food, allowing them to make healthier eating choices. The voice recognition function of the app allows users to say a food or menu item and within seconds see a list of matching items at local restaurants along with nutrition facts including calories, sugar, salt, and fat content.

The app also has tools to help users find food options based on medical conditions, allergies, intolerances, and dietary preferences.

So grab your phone, a fork, and get happy!
